Security Guard Fired for Seeing Ghosts

by admin on November 15th, 2005

ghostTwo dumb employees in a row, can I make it three :-)

A judge has ruled that a former security guard who was fired for seeing ghosts cannot be denied unemployment benefits.

According to AP, a court ruling released this week, the former guard’s allegation of apparitions does not constitute misconduct.

The issue started on Sept. 11, when Wade Gallegos alerted his supervisor at Neighborhood Patrol of Urbandale that ghosts were haunting a neighborhood he was guarding.

The supervisor arrived at the scene, where Gallegos showed him where the ghosts were still apparently standing.

The supervisor claimed he saw nothing and fired Gallegos five hours later.

The company found no signs of drug use or alcohol.

Neighborhood Patrol challenged Gallegos’ application for unemployment benefits, arguing he was guilty of misconduct.

It’s only dumb if it’s not true. While it’s possible the guy was lying , it’s also possible that the ghosts would only appear to him if there truely were ghosts around the place. If you believe in ghosts , one would say how we were in life carries over in the afterlife. Some people would hassle the living just to prove there was / is “life” after “death” and for fun.
    ( like me for example…hahaha )

I believe that firing somebody over an alleged ghost issue is a stupid reason to fire somebody. Especially if the article states
“The company found no signs of drug use or alcohol.”
Just because others may not be able to see ghosts somewhere , doesn’t always mean they aren’t there.

    Getting drunk or high ,
    ( especially on the job ) ,
    is another issue entirely
and a valid reason to fire somebody.

It’s great though that , ( but only if he was being honest ) , that it was judged that he wasn’t involved in misconduct nor be denied unemployment benefits.

It’d be nice to know more about the place and if any other employees have seen anything or had odd experiences.
