French woman tried to pop out for mid-flight smoke

A French woman has been arrested and charged after trying to open the door on her plane on a flight from Hong Kong to Brisbane.

The woman is reported to have taken sleeping tablets washed down with alcohol prior to the incident.

According to the Register, the women’s sense of fear was so dulled that she thought it would be a good idea to pop out for a relaxing smoke. She was seen heading for one of the emergency exits clutching her lighter and tabs, and than began “tampering” with the door and was only prevented from enjoying her last cigarette by a sharp-eyed flight attendant

She subsequently pleaded guilty to endangering the safety of an aircraft at Brisbane Magistrates Court. She was hit with a $1,000 AUD good behaviour bond.
