Husband sleeps with dead wife

Giving new meaning to the phrase “Corpse Bride” is a a devoted husband, not ready to accept that his soul mate had finally left him forever, who slept with her dead body for five months in their home in Pontypridd, South Wales.

HTTabloid reports that 69-year-old ex-milkman Howard Lewis kept chatting about the weather and local gossip to his wife Elizabeth, who died aged 79 in June this year. He also slept in the same bed as her corpse gradually became “mummified”.

However, outside his home Lewis kept up an appearance of normality by shopping and exchanging pleasantries with neighbours in his quiet tree-lined street.

One worried neighbour, after realising that she had not seen Mrs Lewis since the summer, finally informed the police, who went to the couple’s terraced home, and found the body in their double bed.

“It was one of the most shocking discoveries we have ever made. It was in a severe state of decomposition. It appears the woman’s husband found it difficult to accept his wife had died and did not report her death. As time went on it became more and more difficult for him to tell anyone what happened. He tried to carry on living a normal life,” The Sun quoted an officer, as saying.
