Security guards wrestled a man to the ground in a Wal-Mart after he cut in line to get laptop computers that were on sale Friday, a television station reported.

A French woman has been arrested and charged after trying to open the door on her plane on a flight from Hong Kong to Brisbane.

Brazil’s coffee industry has brewed up a plan to serve up to 1 million schoolchildren a free breakfast — complete with a cup of coffee.
Yahoo reports that Brazil’s Coffee Industry Association (Abic) is seeking the support of 50 roasters to launch a pilot “Adopt-a-School” programme to feed breakfast to 1 million Brazilian school children aged 6 to 18.
Under the plan, a coffee roaster would adopt a school of at least 500 children and provide them with a free breakfast of coffee, milk and bread. The annual cost of the programme for each school is estimated at 33,500 reais (9,000 pounds).

Leading dating site Match.com has been accused in a federal lawsuit of goading members into renewing their subscriptions through bogus romantic e-mails sent out by company employees. In some instances, the suit contends, people on the Match payroll even went on sham dates with subscribers as a marketing ploy.

A US woman has been arrested for calling 911 after a restaurant served her cold onion rings.
Ananova reports that Sharita Williams, 30, of Houma, Louisiana, told police the food was cold when she received it and the waiter refused to replace it.
So she dialled 911 from the Malt-N-Burger restaurant in Thibodaux, reports the Daily Comet.
Police turned up – but only to arrest Williams for wasting police time. She is due in court in December.

A Quincy police officer lost his department-issued gun apparently after driving away without realizing he had placed the weapon on the roof of his car, officials said.
The Patriot Ledger reports that the officer, Declan Breslin, was reprimanded and placed on desk duty for several days as punishment for losing his weapon, which was picked up by other Quincy police officers who were investigating a car crash last month in the same area the gun was dropped, Police Chief Robert Crowley said.
