Why You Should Always Cover the Toilet Seat!
This is what you get for not covering the toilet seat in public bathrooms! Personally I don’t like sharing butt germs with other people and always cover the seat.
A suspected prank turned into a serious situation Wednesday when a 53-year-old woman became glued to a toilet seat in the public restroom at Mall of the Bluffs.
Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue personnel and Council Bluffs Police officers responded to the mall at approximately 12:20 p.m. after calls to 9-1-1 reported a woman had been glued to a toilet seat.
The victim, who asked that her name not be used, told The Daily Nonpareil that the incident was the most embarrassing moment of her life.
She said that when she entered the restroom, she noticed that the seat looked a little wet; and she was unable to find any toilet seat covers or paper towels to clean it. The victim then wiped the seat off with some toilet paper, but said she had to save what little was left for after going to the restroom.
"After I sat down, the seat got warm, then warmer and finally hot, and I couldn’t move," she said.
The woman yelled for her daughter to help, but her daughter was unable to get into the locked stall. The daughter then asked for help from two mall employees, who eventually called 9-1-1.
Six male firefighters and officers entered the restroom to help the woman.
"I’ve been married to the same man for 35 years, so it was very humiliating," she said. "But the guys did everything that they could to take of me; everyone was great. I think they were as embarrassed as I was."
Nail polish remover was used to try to break down the glue, but the woman said that the nail polish remover burned her skin. Firefighters decided to remove the toilet seat and transport the victim to the hospital with it still attached, but after the seat was unscrewed, the woman became freed.
However, when the seat released, the glue stayed on her skin. She was taken from the restroom on a stretcher. By that time her husband had arrived at the mall.
"My husband is my best friend, but when he looked at me, he started laughing; and then I started," she said. "He really kept my spirits up."
The woman was transported to Jennie Edmundson Hospital where the glue residue was removed.
"I have never had a wax job in my life, and if it is up to me, I never will," she joked.
But while she has a sense of humor about the incident now, she wants whoever pulled the prank to know that it is not funny.
"I raised three kids, and whoever did this might think that it is funny. I don’t think it was funny," she said. "And the humiliation that I went through was definitely not funny."
Doctors told the victim that the soreness should go away within two to three days and hopefully, without any infections, she will have no lingering effects. Via ZWire
