Paris Hilton Facing Jail Time For Driving on a Suspended License

by Leora on February 28th, 2007

Paris Hilton Faces possible jail timeHow dumb is Paris Hilton? She seems to think she’s above the law or something:

Paris Hilton could have her probation revoked — possibly resulting in jail time — if she is found to have been driving with a suspended license because it would violate conditions of her previous sentence for reckless driving, authorities said Wednesday.

The 26-year-old hotel heiress and star of “The Simple Life” was ticketed for misdemeanor driving with a suspended license after her blue Bentley Continental GTC was pulled over on Sunset Boulevard on Tuesday, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Duane Allen Jr. said.

She was stopped about 11 p.m. after authorities saw the car speeding with its headlights off, Allen said.

“Our office is waiting to obtain a copy of the citation,” said Nick Velasquez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney’s office. “Once we’re able to verify that Miss Hilton was driving the vehicle, we will request that the court revoke her probation and set a probation violation hearing.”

Hilton could face up to 90 days in jail if a judge finds she violated her probation, he said.

“That is certainly one of the possibilities,” Velasquez said. “The judge would make that determination.”

A call to Hilton spokesman Elliot Mintz wasn’t immediately returned.

In January, Hilton pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving stemming from a September 7 arrest in Hollywood. She was sentenced to 36 months’ probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

Earlier, Mintz said Hilton was on her way home Tuesday from buying DVDs at Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood after spending the day at home for a photo shoot.

Mintz said Hilton didn’t realize the car’s headlights weren’t on because she had just left a parking structure that was brightly lit. She was told by police she was stopped for not having the headlights turned on. Speeding was not mentioned, Mintz said.

“When she called me, she asked if her license was suspended,” Mintz said early Wednesday. “If that’s the case, she and I are unaware of it.”

Hilton was picked up by a friend and taken home after the incident.

For crying out loud lock her up for her own safety as well as the rest of humanity. I have a kid the same age and if she was doing this, she would be locked up. Justice for all of us and punishment for the airheads and wealthy idiots. It is past the laugh stage, the behavior that is. Perhaps jail time will put her feet on the ground.

I am no angel- agreed. I got caught driving without a license - but not through the want of want of trying to get one!!!
anyways, paris is supposed to be influencial over young people- is she not? she is a celebrity and they tend to influence (rightly or wrongly) the young. she aint exactly setting an example. in all honestly when I saw the footage of her on the news arriving at court and all that jazz I couldnt have been less concerned- who gives a f***- probably do her the world of good having to pay for her actions-celebrity status doesnt mean u r above the law. however than a statement was released about how all of her fans should go and sign some petition to keep her out of prison and this is the reason given “because she is beautiful, talented, inspirational and she brings beauty and excitemnet to our otherwise mundane live”! have a word - u might be a bunch of boring no-hopers releasing statements on behalf of some anorexic bimbo- who is (let us not forget) only famous because a videotape of her f***ing was “discovered” and circulated.

I am not a legal expert, but it seems that driving on a suspended license (1st offense) would not bring that much jail time. If it is 45 days, then she should spend that time in jail. What is so stupid is that the court gave her 23 days or so to serve and a sheriff let her out of jail early (not Paris) so when she had to go back, she should only serve the rest of the original sentence, not a new sentence. I don’t think that is her fault, it is the systems fault and the sheriff that let her out should be punished. I truly believe she was “clueless” to the fact that her license was suspended. She lives in a bubble, in a world we will never understand. Thank God.
