Goat Born with Eight Legs and Three Ears
This is a really really odd story. My guess is that something really toxic is in the water there in Uganda. Aparently earlier this year another goat, this one with eight eyes, was born nearby but it died.
This unfortunate accident appears to still be kicking… with all eight of its legs. Ick. Read all about it below.
Residents of Nyakabale LCI in Bwikara sub-county in Kibaale district were stunned on Saturday when a goat gave birth to a kid with eight limbs and three ears.
The owner of the goat, Friday Omuhereza, said it developed complications while delivering the second kid. Omuhereza intervened but was overwhelmed, prompting him to call his neighbours.
The kid died as the goat was being helped to deliver.
Apart from the eight legs and three ears, it was bigger compared to the first kid, which is still alive.
Earlier, a goat in Mabaale sub-county was born with eight eyes but it died.While fear has gripped the village with elders saying that disaster was looming in the near future, a Makerere University expert said the identical twins were not fully separated.
“It normally happens in case the cell divides to produce twins, but this did not go into complete separation,’’ said David Owiny, an expert in reproductive biology at the Faculty of veterinary medicine.
He said in such cases, which also occur in human beings, the products share internal organs making it difficult to survive.
“It depends on the extent of the problem, but in many cases, survival chances are remote,’’ Owiny said.
