Date Rape Drug in Toys
This is the oddest and perhaps most troubling chapter in the ongoing toy recall scandals. Now I’m no chemist, but how do you accidentally coat children’s beads with chemicals which transform into GHB upon ingestion by accident?
The affected product is the popular children’s art project toy Bindeez or Aqua Dots which consist of brightly colored beads that can be arranged into various shapes and patterns and then sprayed with water to set. According to the BBC, the toys were supposed to be covered in a non-toxic glue but somehow they got the formula wrong.
This all sounds pretty damn suspicious to me. 3 children in Australia and another 2 in the United States have been hospitalized with several slipping into short term comas.
Although all the kids have recovered, the company is now scrambling to recall millions of units still on the market to prevent further incidents. It’s a sad, strange world.
Millions of Chinese-made toys have been recalled in the US and Australia after they were found to contain a substance linked to the date-rape drug GHB.
A total of five children were taken to hospital after swallowing tiny beads known as Bindeez in Australia and Aqua Dots in the US.
The beads were coated in chemicals which transformed into the banned drug when swallowed.
It is the latest in a series of safety scares over products made in China.
US toy maker Mattel has recalled more than 20 million Chinese-made toys this year.
Coloured beads
The toy has proved extremely popular in both countries. In 2007, Bindeez was named Australia’s Toy of the Year.
The toy consists of hundreds of brightly-coloured beads that can be arranged into a piece of art and sprayed with water to set.
The beads are meant to be coated in a non-toxic glue, but a batch in Australia was found to be covered with a substance that did not match the approved formula.
In Australia, two children in New South Wales and one child in Queensland have been hospitalised in the past two weeks after swallowing the beads.
All three have now recovered, but all of the country’s states and territories have now banned the toy.
In the US, two children were affected, the Consumer Product Safety Commission warned. They slipped into comas, but later recovered.
About 4.2 million units of the toy will be recalled in the US, officials said, and about one million in Australia.
Australian-based manufacturer Moose Enterprises said the toys were made at a factory in southern China’s Guangdong province.
The firm said Bindeez beads would in future be covered with a "foul-tasting ingredient" to try to ensure children would not eat them.
The fair trading minister in Australia’s New South Wales, Linda Burney, said an investigation was under way to determine how batches of the Chinese-made beads failed to match the approved formula.

Well, I was heavily into the techno scene & involved with a major player as well, who had “rich friends,” who took this GHB of their own accord. Crazy right? I mean the drug shuts down your respiratory system. I guess it must be some high.
I still am involved with techno music, but thank goodness harmful drug use in it is on the decline in the scene, because people saw what it was doing to others & education made people aware.
I know that Asians LOVE techno/electronica music, and some of them, whom have admired me and my works have come right out and said to me they used to take pills. If I wasn’t a bit older, (That’s older - not old) I would have been shocked, but I am not surprised. Unfortunatedly educated, electronica music lovers, who had spare time on their hands mixed with the fact that they are modern, liberated, and youthful have partied with these “recreational” drugs. Now regarding putting GHB on the beads, I believe that some educated, raver over in China, who is disgusted with the system of being exploited, did this. Let’s think about it. China is communist - the US & Austrailia are capitalists. There are 2 different political philosopic countries TRADING with one another. And the capitalistic countries come into China, set-up shop, and exploit the hell out of these people. I read 2 years ago, that one company didn’t give dusk masks to it’s workers, and when one of the workers developed a fatal lung disease, they wanted to pretend they didn’t even know him, even though he had worked for them for 10 years! Look it up. Google jade fatal lung disease china. I am sure you will find it.
So pretty much, I believe we have someone, who is intelligent, sick of the system, and wants to express his disconcert with the world. Obviously this is a sad, malice way to do it, but that guy is probably trapped over in China with no way out, hates his job, hates us (the US), and thus did this. I know someone, who is in Russia, who feels the same way, only he has respect for human life, so it is highly unlikely he would poison innocents. But he is disgusted on how a smart person like himself, has to work a factory job for $40 per month, and can’t be granted a guest visa to visit me & see the States, because he doesn’t “own property.” The only way he could visit here is if he were in college “maybe,” or if he got a “finance’ visa.” I gave him a letter of invite for a guest visa, it is ridiculous to have to ask someone to make someone their “finance” to travel to the States. This is exploitative in itself. Yet, we have allowed “bad” guys access to our country, just because they are rich. Well the world is definitedly in need of a better economical system. I mean when George Bush doesn’t even want to grant local farmers financial grant money to grow produce, because he wants to see produced shipped in instead, so we can make money off the import tax, this is ludacrious. I want my food grown “near me,” not flown over in a pollutant vechicle, siting in a refrigeration system for hours!
We cannot cut deals with countries, who don’t like us AND try to exploit them at the same time. This is wrong.
Regarding the date rape drug, GHB, which is not always a rape drug, since people have taken it on their own accord, well, if it is used for rape purposes, I believe this is society’s fault as well. I have never met a guy, who had a nice, loving family background, with “respect” for the the mother that is, who wanted to use this on a woman. I have met a lawyer, who said he wanted to “help” me, and tried to get me so buzzed, I would go to his hotel room. I ain’t playing that game, and he looked throughly disappointed when he knew he was beat. I wish all guys, who would even “think” of something like this be immediated thrown into so rehabilatation center. Seriously! And he was a Texan. You know alot of them old Southern guys are exploitative & patriarchial - like George Bush, although despite all his malfunctions, I see a glimmer of sensitivity in him, maybe because he is a Cancer…I would say Christian, but he doesn’t really represent it with all the violence. Media - stop telling men they have to have sex. Stop showing it! Personally, I hope many of the writers on the writers strike in Hollywood LEAVE the business and go into organic farming to get close to nature, and rehabilitate. Alot of tv writers have no moral, they are nasty, and they don’t care what they put into a script as long as it sells. Most of them are men. So sad that men still rule alot of the world. If only the women could…instead the only women, who seem to suceed in BIIG business are either sluts or bitches. Yeah, you heard it. That’s what it boils down too. It is disappointing to have to act like a bitch to succeed BIG. But look at all, who are. Hillary Clinton for example…great at BIG business, but people don’t like her personality. Now she is trying to show her softer side. Of course she couldn’t show her softer side at first, because people were joking about her “thunder thighs.” Remember that?
Well, things are getting better somewhat, but there is alot of jealousy around…more than ever…and forget loyalty & sensitivity…except for gays…at least they have been tolerated and are not being beat-up by the big boys anymore…unless you are in TX.
