Ron Paul: The Racist Candidate
Not that this comes as any surprise to people who have actually been looking into Ron Paul’s candidacy, but the folks over at CNN have finally noticed that the Republican presidential contender has a history of racism. Here the argument that an anti-war, anti-globalization, pro-peace Republican candidate is "too good to be true" bears fruit.
Far behind numerous commentators and sharp minds in the blogosphere, CNN has finally "stumbled across" a number of Ron Paul "Political Report" newsletters in which he rants against Jews, gays, AIDS victims, and Martin Luthor King, Jr. calling him a "pro-Communist philanderer." He also claims that the 1992 LA race riots were only quelled when it was "time for blacks to pick up their welfare checks."
Unsurprisingly, and I would say rather unconvincingly, Paul claims that he had nothing to do with these articles published in his name and was entirely unaware of them. I find that more than a little hard to believe given that this was 1) not an isolated incident and 2) he prides himself on his involvement and knowledge of his "grassroots" support.
His newest claim that "[l]ibertarians are incapable of being a racist, because racism is a collectivist idea," rings just as hollow as it sounds.
A few details that CNN neglected to publish are these:
- Ron Paul’s refusal to return campaign contributions from the head of Stormfront, a White Supremacist organization.
- Ron Paul’s all-too-comfortable photo-op with Stormfront organizer Don Black and his son Derek Black
- The White Supremacist Vanguard News Network’s claim that Ron Paul is actively involved with the White Power movement.
- As well as Ron Paul’s active cooperation with whack jobs from the "9/11 Truth" movement
I always find it cute when the extreme left and the extreme right find a way to make it around the edges of the political spectrum and shake hands. Don’t you?

Sure call him a racist, but he should be called a Realist. The PC bs is getting VERY tiring and I don’t see ANYONE accussing Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton racist. So what if he is White and proud, Now Thats a Offense? MLK was a pro-communist philanderer, what, thats news?
Ron Paul seems to be THE ONLY candidate that is PRO-CITIZEN and does NOT want to give our country away to liberals, Illegals and Big Business.

Don, there is nothing theoretically wrong with being “white and proud”… The problem is that it is more often than not a euphemism for something entirely different. I cannot imagine that neither you nor Ron Paul himself would not be well aware of that.
… and there are plenty of people who regularly accuse Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton of being any number of nasty perhaps well-founded things including racists.

This article is terrible journalism. I don’t see where you get facts. You give Ron Pauls response but don’t even quote him. Who cares that he took pictures with those idiots. They were at his event and he probably didn’t even know who they were. Your article makes all kinds of claims but doesn’t site at all where the information comes from. You need to go to journalism school.

Matthew, I am so sorry you do not approve of my “journalism” but this is a blog after all and never claims to be more than that.
I do however cite (not site) where all my facts come from. Please see the source CNN article linked to twice in the post and the other four articles I have linked to within the post.
There is plenty of evidence that Ron Paul is well aware of who Don Black is and of his sympathies for Stormfront. Just scratch a bit beneath the surface and the evidence comes gushing out.
Thankfully most people in this country are not nearly as dumb as Ron Paul wishes they were. That man will never become president.

I just find it crazy that Ron Paul has no clue who wrote what he allegedly did not write under his own name.

Listen kid, this country is in deep shit. We have lost our Constitution with the Patriot Act and the War Commission Act. Our dollar is crashing and we are imprisoning drug addicts to turn them into workers for prison factories. You may soon be drafted to fight in a war in some far off place, not for liberty, but for some corporate interest. If you think that any of the CFR special interest candidates are going to do a damn thing to save this country, you are dreaming. You will be walking around with a chip in your ass and Big Brother will know every move you make, because you will not be allowed to move without permission. Ron Paul is the most honorable man in Washington. He will do what he says he will, because his twenty year record proves it. He is going after the systematic destroyers of this country, there have been threats on his life and you, you twerp want to spread this garbage about him. Naomi Wolf wrote a book called “The End of America”, read it, open your eyes, you have been used by the propagandist!

Hi “kid”, my judgment of Ron Paul are entirely based up what he has done, what he has said, and with whom he consorts. Nothing that I have written here is garbage, it is documented fact.
What I am concerned about is that someone like Ron Paul WILL DO exactly what he says he will. What I am even more concerned about is that people like you are not actually listening.
Elaine, if you feel like you would like to vote for a paleoconservative, isolationist, white-power promoting, false populist whose only “grassroots” support comes from a joining of the fanatical left and fanatical right that is your prerogative. Fortunately most people in this country are actively choosing not to exercise that prerogative.

Ariel, how dare you suggest that being a supporter I am somehow a “fanatic” lefty or righty. I am just fed up with politicians being “in the pocket” of Big oil or corporate America and wanting to give OUR country away. I am tired of government agencies duplicated to “watch each other”. I am tired of watching politicians pander to ILLEGAL ALIENS and complain of budget short falls while these Illegals drain BILLIONS from our system. For your info I DO LISTEN and personally NONE of the “mainstream” politicos have anything but politics as usual in store for us. You may not have noticed but politics as usual have this country headed for a MAJOR RECCESSION and not one of the “mainstreamers” will change this. If you have any faith that a Hillary,Obama John,Mitt or Rudy are Honest, have NO RACIAL animosities and want to help this country, it is YOU who are delusional…

Don, I never directly accused you or any reader here of being a fanatic. I do suggest you take note of the odd company you are in however as a Ron Paul supporter.
I am not delusional nor did I accuse you of being delusional. I have not claimed anything about Ron Paul or his hardcore supporters that he and they have not said about themselves.
Finally, please take a note of the appropriate comment guidelines and tone it down a few notches.
