New Hampshire Primary Ruckus
Here at Simply Dumb I’ve been mostly avoiding coverage of the presidential primaries for a number of reasons. 1) I’m not really sure yet which of the candidates in any of the parties I support. 2) Given the vast readership of this blog, I wouldn’t want to unfairly tip the primaries in any particular direction *smirk. 3) Not that much that’s particularly funny or embarrassing has yet happened during the last week or so.
Well, a Hillary Rodham Clinton rally changed all that yesterday evening when two men rushed into the crowd yelling "Iron my shirt!" The message of course is that a woman’s place is doing laundry not running for presidential office. I imagine this was more of a joke in bad taste than a serious attempt to derail the Clinton campaign.
In any event, Clinton bounced right back responding to the hecklers, "Ah, the remnants of sexism – alive and well." At the close of her speech, and after the ejection of the two men, she also noted in the question period, "If there’s anyone left in the auditorium who wants to learn how to iron a shirt, I’ll talk about that." Check out the whole story and video here at CBS 2 Chicago.
