Immigrants in Germany Protest Self-Defense
Yet another absurd protest is being staged by primarily North African and Middle Eastern immigrants in Europe. Here’s the story:
Hundreds have taken to the streets in Cologne, Germany to protest the “violent death” of a 17-year-old Moroccan boy named Salih. According to police, the teen attempted to mug a 20-year-old German. In a panic, the man pulled out his pocket knife and stabbed his assailant in the heart.
Just in case you’re wondering, this is not some police conspiracy to cover up a vile murder; there were plenty of witnesses. Now the immigrant community is up in arms demanding “justice”. I would say that I agree, but the real criminal in this case isn’t alive to stand trial.
While this latest protest is most certainly part of a much larger discontent by the immigrant population for feelings of discrimination and social marginalization, it’s difficult to feel sympathy for a crowd implicitly demanding a right to commit violence and crime with impunity.
My first suggestion: try protesting when a member of your community has been unlawfully denied a job or when your neighborhood receives a disproportionate share of public maintenance funding.
My second suggestion: try publicly condemning violent criminality by members of your community rather than blaming the system. You might actually then find that rational people are more willing to listen to your other complaints.
