No Roses for Saudis on Valentine’s Day

saudi-arabia-bans-roses The thought police are at it again in everyone’s favorite gender apartheid state.

Reuters is reporting that Saudi Arabia is banning red roses and any item the color of scarlet from florists and gift shops around the country in anticipation of Valentine’s Day.  Enforcing the ban is the country’s own Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

In this conservative autocracy, the holiday is frowned upon as it is seen as encouraging unmarried members of the opposite sex to interact out of wedlock.  It’s always nice to know that one of our closest “allies” in the Middle East is looking out for the best interests of its impressionable youth.

Should they also outlaw their own blood because it also runs red? These men ruling this country are insane, I wish that the women there had a more powerful voice, or that they even wanted to use it at all. Shall they also outlaw the Red Robin? They can say “Hey you there, Red Robin, you need to change your color because you are a scarlet.”
