Obama’s Mentor May Cost Him Election

Yeah, Jeremiah Wright has crossed the line from controversial to completely off his religious rocker. It’s one thing to insinuate the United States goaded the terrorists into attacking us on 9/11.
Sen. Barack Obama had managed to talk his way out of the initial furor surrounding those comments. But now that the burning media spotlight is focused on Wright, I think he’s just going to keep hollering out crazy things. Not unlike Bill O’ Reilly, if one thinks about it.
As if the now infamous “God Damn America” speech wasn’t enough, Wright now is espousing the theory that the government created the AIDS virus to kill minorities. And this kook is a leader of countless churchgoers, folks. There was probably a chorus of Amens when he broke out with this racist, divisive and completely ridiculous nonsense.
Obama is backtracking from this lunatic at a speed the Democrats usually reserve for wrecking their party. I don’t blame Barack. Many of us have an older person in our family or immediate circle of friends that is a relentless conspiracy theorist. They seem harmless at first, with their beliefs that the moon landing was staged and WWII didn’t happen. As ever-present witnesses to the deterioration, we don’t even realize how crazy they’ve gotten until they won’t leave the house without their tinfoil hat.
If Wright had flipped his lid two years ago or two years from now, it wouldn’t be a big deal and no one outside of his church would even be paying much attention. But thanks to his Obama connection, Wright’s descent into utter madness couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Whether you like Obama or not, he deserves to have the same chance to fail on his own merits his recent Democratic predecessors have. Judge him on his policies and not what crazy Uncle Jeremiah has to say, please.
