Yeah, I make my bucks by writing about celebrity psychosis, generally stupid behavior and what not. I am one of many entertainment journalists suckling at the eternally nurturing teat of superstar stupidity.
But I don’t rejoice in the pain in suffering of others. OK, maybe Gary Busey. For the most part I want to see people get it right. That’s why the downward spiral of troubled soul singer Amy Winehouse has finally ceased to amuse me. Over the weekend she narrowly dodged assault charges after admitting to slapping a man with an open hand. Yeah, wait for the inevitable lawsuit…
I wanted to believe she turned a huge corner after her Grammy performance of her song Rehab while she was actually in rehab. It was one of the best Grammy moments ever.
I’m not in the camp that thinks she should have been punished by not getting a Grammy. If we’re going to only award people with sterling reputations, they won’t give away 10 awards next year. Album of The Year goes to Paul Anka! Good night everybody!
However, I would like to see Amy get the help she so desperately needs. I don’t want to be writing her obit in a couple of years.
