Lawyer Jailed for Obscene Gesture in Court
The Austin American-Statesman reports that an Austin defense attorney got 90 days in jail for a locker-room style signal he made in court during a hearing.
In March, Attorney Adam Reposa got caught making the masturbation gesture often used to symbolize wasting one’s time. Problem being he did it in plain sight of a County Court at Law judge. Reposa’s attorney asked his client only be sentenced to a single day but Visiting State Judge Paul Davis said he was upholding the integrity of the judicial process.
The prosecutor said Reposa was a habitual offender with a long list of miscues that includes calling opposing counsel vulgar names in court. Hey, I live in Texas. ( I swear we’re not just picking out stupid Southern stories, I swear.) This guy should be glad he didn’t get shown the revolving door on our state’s electric chair. Oh, and I wouldn’t advise making any of those obscene gestures in jail. Bubba Ray might get the wrong idea.
