Pass The Duchy – And the Basketball, Josh

What would you think a star player on an NBA team is concerned about during a playoff run? If you said playing basketball at the best level possible, you’d be right.
What’s on the mind of Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard? Lightin’ up blunts in the offseason. I wish I were making this up. During the middle of the intense playoff pressure Howard gave not one but two interviews to Dallas media about smokin’ weed. Howard discussed his habits with the Dallas Morning News and then, having had time to contemplate the sheer dumbitude of that decision, defended it to a sports talk radio station.
He doesn’t see anything wrong with burning out in the offseason and told Dallas’ FM 103.3 “everybody in the media world and in the sports world knows that NBA players do smoke marijuana.” Mavs owner Mark Cuban, who’s stuck his own foot in his mouth on more occasions than his team has choked in the playoffs, said Howard will be disciplined.
It appears to have finally dawned on Howard that maybe doing interviews on his weed usage isn’t a good idea during the playoffs. He’s now released a statement that he didn’t mean to hurt anybody and just wants to talk about basketball. That would have been a brilliant idea a couple of weeks ago, Josh.
Way to generalize there, Joshy. I’d be curious to know how many San Antonio Spurs are burning in the offseason, or at least how many would be dumb enough to do interviews about it.
