Twin Towers Replacement Plans Found in City Garbage
We all know that the World Trade Center was brought down by airplanes and a new “Freedom Tower” is planned on the same site. So what’s the best way to handle the building of the replacement tower to ensure its security?
Did you guess throwing confidential blueprints in the trash? No? Well, someone thought it was a good idea. A homeless man found documents marked “Secure Document – Confidential” – and they were in a trash bin. The man gave the papers to the New York Post.
The plans were detailed, giving floor-by-floor schematics of the new tower; thickness of the concrete; and air duct, elevator, support column, and electrical system locations. Things a malcontent or terrorist would love to get their hands on. And while the plans are several versions old, they still contained some pretty damaging information.
The plans were also labeled with a note to “properly destroy if discarded.” Someone forgot that little detail and investigations are under way to find the unfortunate culprit. The Port Authority was duly embarrassed and promised to find out what happened.
Maybe they should ask the homeless guy to help with the investigation. It’ll probably go quicker.

It’s a miracle our buildings don’t get hit more often with security measures like this.
Scary, isn’t it?
