A girl in Greece went to the hospital for stomach pain and found out she had an embryonic twin instead. Doctors at the hospital removed a growth and later found that it was a 2-inch embryo.
Wow. Doctors could see that her tummy was swollen, but didn’t expect what they found. The embryo was a formed fetus with a head, hair and eyes, but didn’t have a brain or umbilical cord. Apparently this happens in one of 500,000 live births.
Remember that scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the aunt mentions a growth on her neck that turned out to be a twin? Yeah, that’s immediately what came to mind when we read this story.
The family asked not to be identified.
