Goosen Claims Tiger Faked His Injury

Retief Goosen-nc I guess this is the only way a guy like Retief Goosen can get one-tenth the ink that Tiger Woods does. Goosen has tried to downplay Tiger’s already legendary U.S. Open win by suggesting the game’s best player faked his knee injury.

Goosen claimed that when Tiger hit a good shot, his knee looked fine but he seemed “injured” whenever he hit a bad shot. Ever hear of the effects of adrenaline, Goosey? Of course not, you play freakin’ golf.

Retief looked, for lack of a better phrase, Simply Dumb after Woods announced he’ll undergo surgery that will keep him out until next year. Boy, he fakes so well he fooled the world’s best knee doctors. Give Woods the Academy Award and give Goosen a dunce cap.

Even after the announcement about Tiger’s surgery, Goosen continued being a jerk about things rather than admit he was wrong. He said he was “only being light-hearted” but then said that if Tiger was hurt that badly, he would have withdrawn.

Let’s play idiot’s advocate and say Goosen was right. What could he possibly gain by attacking the credibility of the only reason anybody watches the PGA? When Skip Bayless went on ESPN and questioned how badly Tiger was hurt, it was to be expected. He gets paid a hefty salary to write and say dumb things. Wait- they pay people to write about dumb things? Where can I get one of those cushy gigs?

Tiger is the only person in recent memory to make anyone use the words “golfer” and “athlete” in the same sentence. This weekend he showed he can actually beat the rest of the field on one leg. I can count the number of tourneys I’ve watched on one hand and still list the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but the next time Woods and Goosen square off I want to see it. I’m betting Goosen won’t be looking for the microphones after that butt kicking.
