Hi, My Name Is – Obscene

Censorship Button A Los Alamos, New Mexico man on Friday lost his bid to change his legal name to something protesting government regulation of free speech. His choice? F___ Censorship.

The man who wants to be known as Mr. Censorship was appealing in a state court after a state district judge refused the name change. The state appeals court said he can call himself whatever he wants as long as there’s no fraud or censorship. But the ruling says once he seeks court approval, his choice for a legal name can be turned down if it offends common decency and good taste.

So right now the man’s legal, official name is Variable. I think the worst punishment the court could have bestowed on this guy would have been to grant the change and then enforce his use of it. Would you kiss your mother with that name, Mr. Variable? How would one go about putting that on a job application?

The name Variable sounds like something from a sci-fi series, or my old math book? lol

I guess I could think of worse names for this guy. :)

There’s something statistically wrong with that variable. Seriously.
