Laser show blinds ravers

When partygoers hit a rave, they expect music. And fun. And lots of dancing. And maybe even a laser show or two if it’s fancy. But what they don’t bargain for is laser-blindness.
That’s exactly what ravers got last week at a Moscow party. Bummer.
Almost 30 reported cases stemmed from a July 5th part northeast of Moscow. Heavy rains forced the party organizers to set up big tents to hold the festival attendees. So instead of the lasers pointing up to the sky, like they normally would, they were partially reflected back to people’s eyes.
Some partygoers have lost partial vision from the mishap, as much as 80%. And it’s too late for them to regain some of that vision, as their retinas are scarred from the burning.
Somebody who had the bright idea for the tent didn’t think through the consequences of using such powerful lasers under a tent, when they were meant for the open sky.
We smell lots of lawsuits or out-of-court settlements. But really, what price could you put on your eyesight? What a bummer.
