iPhone Fans Have Disappointing Day

Today’s long-awaited launch of Apple’s new iPhone has become a cautionary tale about buying the first run of anything electronic. After waiting hours in line for the chance to even buy the new tech toy, Apple aficionados will have to wait even longer to actually use them.
Apparently a problem with Apples iTunes servers prevented the phones from being activated in store like most customers planned. Thus, employees had to tell iPhone buyers to activate the phones from their home computers. That didn’t work either, making the phones useless for anything but dialing 911. Don’t do that, iPhone fans. Trust me, while your failing iPhone might seem like an emergency to you, it is not to anyone else.
I wonder how many of the fans that waited in line for hours to get non-working iPhones also waited for the PS3 only to find it had no games worth paying $600 to play? Or for that matter, Xbox 360s that crashed within two months of purchase? It’s usually worth it to let them work the bugs out of new technology because believe me, there are always bugs.

What’s that? You bought a paperweight? That’s an expensive, albeit, pretty one isn’t it?
I must confess I did wait in line for the first round of PS2s, and amazingly it worked fine. But I would be so ticked if I had the iPhone right now…
