I will never, as long as I live, understand how an athlete that was supposed to revolutionize play at the quarterback position in the NFL got to this point. The former star QB for the Atlanta Falcons, now in prison for charges related to a dogfighting ring, says he’s broke.

I’m sure most animal activists would say it couldn’t happen to a nicer person. Vick lists numerous creditors he says he can’t pay due to his prison term, including the Atlanta Falcons. They’re looking to claim $3.75 million of the $19.7 million they paid him in bonuses that they can’t recoup now.

Experts are debating whether or not Vick’s actually broke or is just trying to get out of paying some debt. With him making astute financial decisions like financing a dogfighting ring, I wouldn’t doubt Vick is close to broke. Unfortunately too many pro athletes live from fat paycheck to fat paycheck and blow the money because more will be coming in their next contract.

I don’t know how much the guy has left to his name but as I mentioned, his decision making up to this point has been pretty questionable.
