Quick-thinking Japanese mom uses tea to escape thief

A man with a knife tried to hold up a Japanese woman by grabbing her in the corridor of her apartment building. She was holding her six-month-old daughter at the time. The thief demanded money and she told him she had none. He then forced his way into her apartment.
She made him tea, hoping to calm him down. Amazingly, he put his knife away and started babbling about his life. The woman gave him some money and ran away to call police. But when authorities got there, the man was (natch) gone.
That’s a quick-thinking mom for you. I’m sure the first thing on her mind was finding a way to protect her baby. Her strategy worked. Shame on that man for threatening a woman carrying her child. Also, that’s a good way to get yourself hurt. Never threaten a woman’s offspring. Mama bear will definitely come out.
