Husband and wife each win $350K in lottery

Verlyn Adamson is actually an accountant and he claims he has a secret formula that has garnered him small lottery winnings over the last 20 years. This is the first time he has won a larger amount.
He decided to play some numbers, and his wife Judith asked if she could use the same numbers. She had the right instinct, obviously.
We wonder if this has ever happened before. And which would be better from a tax perspective – each of them claiming the money individually, or winning one lump sum and getting taxed on that. Would it make a difference?
