Gimme a I, Gimme a D, Gimme a Theft!
Some people just weren’t meant to be parents - or contributing members of society. Yahoo News reports a 33-year-old woman was charged with stealing her daughter’s identity to attend high school and join the cheerleading team.
Wendy Brown, of Green Bay, is charged with felony identity theft after enrolling in Ashwaubenon High School as her daughter. The daughter lives in Nevada with her grandmother. Good call there, because mama appears quite mentally unstable. Brown told school officials she was 15 because she wanted to get her high school diploma and join the cheerleading squad.
According to police reports Brown attended practices, received a cheerleader’s locker and hung out at a pool party at the cheerleading coach’s house. Brown reportedly has a history of ID theft. And I’m going to go out on a limb here and say she has a history of bizarre behavior as well.
But one of the fatal flaws in stealing a kid’s identity is they don’t usually have much money. Brown bounced the $134.50 check for her cheerleading uniform. Because she looked a lot older than a high school student, school officials did some investigation.
Brown actually fabricated a story about moving to Green Bay from the high school in Nevada where her daughter was actually enrolled. Then they talked to Brown’s mother and everything came together - or fell apart from Brown’s perspective. Cree-pee.
If convicted, she could face up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Oh, and she is so getting detention Saturday.
