Are Elections Dangerous For You?
It’s not like Americans needed yet another reason to be lazy and skip out on the November 4 elections, but Simply Dumb found you one anyhow. A study being published in today’s Journal of American Medicine and reported on by the Associated Press found that on average, 24 more people died in car crashes during voting hours on presidential election days than on other October and November Tuesdays. That’s an increase of nearly 20 percent.
The Northwestern University School of Public Safety study analyzed elections from Jimmy Carter’s 1976 victory all the way up to Bush’s win over John Kerry. Possible factors, according to the study, included people rushing to the polls after leaving work and driving unfamiliar routes to get there.
So there you go. When you roll back in your recliner on Nov.4, throw up your hands and say none of them are worth your time, we’ve given you a reasonable excuse. You’re on your own about the dishes.

Funny thing. I actually did get in a crash last election. I was T-Boned by a person rushing from work to go vote. Too funny.
I’d walk to the polling place, but I’m afraid I’d get run over.
