During the summer, car interior temps can soar. Quickly. In fact, temps can increase by 20 degrees every 30 minutes a car is closed up. And children’s bodies warm 3-5 times as fast as an adult’s does. And that means heat stroke can come about much quicker for kids than for adults. An average of 36 children per year die from heat overexposure (hyperthermia) – and it’s almost always due to a kid being left in a car.

Darrion Scott, a former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman and current miserable human being,  pleaded guilty Monday to child endangerment for putting a plastic bag over his 2-year-old son’s head.
Scott opted not to go to trial with this -  good call. Juries don’t have a lot of sympathy for pro athletes who almost suffocate their kid.
Scott’s attorney, Joe Friedberg, said the other charges will be dismissed at Scott’s July 24 sentencing. Scott had been charged with third-degree assault and domestic assault by strangulation, both of which are felonies.

Laguna Beach police are recommending child endangerment charges for Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora , allegedly caught driving drunk with his daughter in the car.
Sgt. Jason Kravitz told E! News that the department wants the misdemeanor child endangerment charge in addition to misdemeanor DUI. Ava,Sambora’s 10-year-old daughter with Heather Locklear, was with Sambora March 25 when police pulled him over for suspicion of drunk driving. Another unidentified juvenile and a woman believed to be Sambora’s girlfriend were also in the car.
