Jailed former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick taunted prosecutors and talked of a comeback even as he got carted away today, according to the Detroit Free Press. Kilpatrick reached a plea deal last month pleading guilty to two felonies and no contest to a third.
He blamed the media and Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm for his fall from grace in a news conference in September. The Detroit Free Press reports that Detroit Mayor (soon to have former added to his title) Kwame Kilpatrick has agreed to plead guilty to obstruction charges and step down after more than six years in office. Much of the past year was an absolute mess due to a seven-months-long sex scandal that led to felony charges. Jail time is reported to be part of the plea deal.
