Is it just me or is that a crazy amount of child support? Oh sure, Spears probably has a lot of money from when, you know, she actually sang and gave concerts. We’re not saying she shouldn’t be paying that to support her children. Maybe she should.

But do you know anyone who would need $20K a month for two kids? I bet most people we know could make that last 5 months at minimum. The amounts of money that celebrities throw around is just crazy sometimes.

Simon & Schuster apparently doled out some hefty advances to two rappers for books they were supposed to pen. Lil Kim got $40,000 in 2003 and Foxy Brown got $75,000 in 2005. But neither woman followed through with a completed book.

And since they didn’t fulfill the agreement, the company is suing them for breach of contract. Usually, publishers try to avoid actual litigation. They give the would-be author some time to either complete the contract or cough up the advance. We wonder if the women refused, or just didn’t have the money to give back?

This is not the first time that a publisher has sued an author for breach of contract. Back in 2006, popular blogger Heather Armstrong was sued by Kensington Publishing for not fulfilling an oral agreement for two books. It was a “traumatic, agonizing, demoralizing” experience for her. She did eventually fulfill the contract and her book is now available on Amazon. She has been busy promoting the book and making author appearances.

Even celebrities and web-famous writers have to tow the line when it comes to book contracts. Those publishers don’t mess around.

A man in Whitehall, NY found out that a motorized cooler is considered a motor vehicle when he was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was swerving and driving on the sidewalk on a “Cruzin Cooler.” The police pulled him over and cited him.

And due to previous convictions and arrests, he could actually face felony DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Ouch.

Apparently he’s been riding around the neighborhood on that cooler for years. Which is fine, until you have a few too many drinks. Let that be a lesson to all of us. Don’t drive anything when you’re intoxicated. Not even a cooler. Oh, and you might want to leave the beer at home instead of hauling it around in case you get thirsty.

About 40 minutes later, the same man was spotted driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. He was pulled over and cited again for drunk driving. At least the second time he was taken to a detention center.

I don’t know where the guy was trying to go, but that’s one determined dude. And just a little bit (okay, maybe a lot) stupid. We could say something about his judgment, but really, the fact that he got behind the wheel is indicator enough of that, isn’t it?

Drunk driving once is dumb enough. Doing it again two hours after getting stopped the first time? Someone needs to take this guys keys away.
